Breaker One-Nine...
Man - O - Man.
CB's were The Bomb.
Am I going out on a limb and irrevocably dating myself here??
Looooonnnnng, Loooooooonnnnnnng Ago... before texting...
before cell phones... before pagers even... there were CB Radios.
They were all kinds of Awesome and my folks had one in each car AND one in the living room. I must have been about 7 years old when I saw the movie "Convoy" and found myself in hog heaven. I remember loving Kris Kristofferson's gravelly voice and handsome face. And let's not forget the movie's bad ass nature and of course, the foul language. Yes, my love of profanity started very early indeed :) Who could say if the movie was actually any good, all I know for sure is that it made a huge impression and tied in nicely to the subculture my family was experiencing.
And while we're broaching CB lingo here folks...
What was your "Handle"??
I don't remember if my brother & I had them...
but my parents went by: 'Sassy Momma' & 'Tumbleweed'.
... (crackle, squawk) "Ye-ah, that's a big ten-four."
Sweet memories that plant a big, enormous goofy grin on my face.
Why do I even remember such things???
Because it was so damn cool. Aaaaand I was 7.
Here's hoping our boys will have just as many fabulous memories!
Admittedly, I probably won't be able to maintain my current momentum with all of these totally Alright, alright. Keep it down.
Don't get all riled up.
After all, I'm here to amuse myself...
Obviously.
And with that I give you :
A little refresher for those that remember...
and for those who haven't a clue.
70's films and Vinyl... ahhh, what could be better.
One more with meaning, featuring clips from the movie...
I love You Tube!
Sure CB's are still out there... but they've gone the way of the Ham Radio. Seems that only die hards and truckers are still putting them to good use. And on that note...
"Over and out, Good Buddy."

High - Five... Project 365
As They Say in Golf.... Four!

I sure do miss The P's old work schedule...
the one where he worked 4 days a week,
and every week ended with a glorious 3 day weekend.
Two day weekends aren't long enough!
how can it already be Sunday??!

Three Down... Project 365
"Find a happy place. Find a happy place."
not every 365 entry is going to get it's own page. I'm giving myself permission right now to allow for some multiple day pages... it's all good and will work out in the end. Besides, I'm pretty sure that my sanity will thank me. And the limiting 24 hours in each day will demand it.

Some Mean Ass Soup...
I have genuinely been kickin' some mighty fine
Meet my latest creation
and this week's top contender... thus far:
I love soup in the fall. And this one is absolutely off the charts...
Beyond Awesome Good!
BeAwesome Bean Medley
Ingredients:
1 package Kielbasa (de-skinned and cubed)
1 small diced Onion
1 Minced Garlic Clove
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1 can Pinto Beans
1 can Great Northern Beans
1 can Black Beans
1 can Black Eyed Peas
1 can Italian Stewed Tomatoes
1 can Corn
1 can Chicken Broth
1/2 cup Wild Rice
2-4 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce (to taste)
White Pepper, Black Pepper and Sea Salt to taste.
Preparation Instructions:
De-skin and cube sausage. Brown in a pan along with onion, oil and garlic - season to taste. Remove from heat.
In the crockpot add entire contents of all canned items (including all liquids, do not drain) : beans, tomatoes, corn and chicken broth. Stir in the cooked sausage and onion mixture. Followed by your wild rice, Worcestershire and spices. Cook on high for 4 hours, or low for 7-8 hours.
Of course I came up with this on the fly and you could just as easily prepare it on the stove top. A recipe like this is very forgiving, so don't be afraid to use what you have on hand. The real secret here is the White Pepper and the Worcestershire Sauce - don't be stingy, the flavor they add is totally BeAwesome!
Enjoy :)
