Tired, but Still Sweet...

This poor, sweet, tired boy.
The boy who decided 3 months ago that he was done with naps.
The boy whose body, after 3 loooong months, is trying desperately to tell him that he still desperately needs a nap.

So of course his struggle becomes our struggle.
Especially when we are out and about. And if being out and about occurs between 1 and 3, well then it's difficult to muster up much sympathy for yourself. Because, as parents, you're simply begging for trouble, defying the odds or are gluttons for punishment. Take your pick. But as parents you need to suck up the risk factor you assume when you choose to take the wager.

Let me introduce you to the Melt Down. It's a lovely site to behold... and the inevitable downside to your gambling efforts. It may not be pretty... but it's life. The croco-alligator tears are heart wrenching and the drama lizard is working overtime at mastering a few new, and not always so subtle, manipulation skills. So strap yourself in... pick a spot and declare a truce between you and your overly tired 3 year old. AKA: A Time Out. A wondrous solution that gives the poor, sweet, tired boy a much needed emotional outlet while providing the parents a moment to regroup. We love a good Time Out... where all the problems of the world work themselves out in about 3 minutes flat. Pure Genius.

Patrick took these shots, from behind the car, without said boy's knowledge. His intention wasn't to invade his private moment, but to capture our beautiful boy experiencing life at age Three. Struggling with his emotional growth and Succeeding in learning from himself. It's an amazing thing, this parenting gig. It's something Patrick & I are eternally grateful to be able to share, experience and cherish. We love this boy so very much... and we totally enjoyed the irony, that the "chill out" spot was coincidentally next to an ice chest freezer. Now that's Cool dude ;)
